HERITAGE PARK

The Heritage Park, spread over twelve acres of land and can be seen on the northern side of Raj Bhawan on the Agartala-GBP Hospital road. This park was inaugurated on the 30th November 2012 by the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Tripura. The entrance to the park has a massive gate that draws inspiration from the rich mixed cultural heritage of Tripura, both tribal and non-tribal. The park has three parts, the mini-Tripura located in about three acres of land at the entrance of the gate, the central area that is a natural forest, and a plain table land with medicinal plants, herbs and shrubs. There is a walking track of 1.1 kilometer running along the periphery of the park.

NAZRUL KALASHETRA

Located on Math Chowmuhani - Jail Road near Purbasa, the NazrulKalashetra is a sprawling culture complex of the city with a sophisticated auditorium. It also comprises of a film development laboratory, a screening hall and a library.

BUDDHA TEMPLE, BENUBAN VIKHAR IN AGARTALA

This temple is one of the most attractive Buddhist destinations of Tripura, located at Kunjaban area in northern part of Agartala town.The shrine is called “BenubanVihar” and has a collection of some beautiful metal Buddha idols, the vastness of which belies its small size. Buddha Purnimaor the day of Buddha’s ascentis celebrated with great enthusiasm. Do visit to this monastery for some peaceful soul searching.

PURBASA

UJJAYANTA PALACE

This royal house, which stands in the Capital city Agartala was built by Maharaja Radha Kishore Manikya during 1899-1901.It is a two storied mansion with mixed architecture. It is topped by three high domes, the central one being 86’ high.

The magnificent tile floor, curved wooden ceiling and beautifully crafted doors are particularly notable. The palace is set with huge Mughal style gardens and beautified by pools, gardens, and fountains.

NEHRU PARK

Until a few years ago, the reddish glow of the toxic top-soil on the bare strip of land in GorkhaBasti area would hurt the eyes.
When the state government was looking to shift a part of its administrative setup out of the heart of the town, all eyes turned towards theGorkhaBasti. The idea of building a park took seed and the responsibility was given to the authority of the forest department.The result is today’s Nehru Park in front of ‘AranyaBhawan’, headquarters of the forest department. It had taken lot of efforts and expenses to process the soil and prepare it for the varied floral plants, with spaces for seating in the emerging green cover. The Park, inaugurated in the year 2003, is now a happy hub of people of all ages wanting to get away from their ‘city life’.

FOURTEEN GOD’s TEMPLE

The fourteen gods are the ancestral Kula Devta of the Tripuri people. The origins of this faith is so far back in time that it is now obscured by mysteries. It can, however be linked to the early history of Tripuri people, including their kings and royal families. There are many mythological stories about the origin of these fourteen Gods and Goddess, all of whom are benevolent Gods. These Gods are worshipped for their blessings of wellbeing, peace, prosperity, and victory over the enemies. By the grace of these Gods, the Tripuri people had been able to rule over the vast majority of Bengal, Asom and whole of the eastern tract for centuries.

SEPAHIJALA WILDLIFE SANCTUARY

The sanctuary is spread across nearly 7.15 sq mi and is located inside the woods alongwith artificial lakes such as, the Abasarika and AmritSagar, along with boating facilities, natural botanical, and zoological gardens. It is famous for its captive Clouded Leopard enclosures. The sanctuary contains nearly 150 species of birds and the unique bespectacled monkey (Phayre'sLangur). The terrain is green throughout the year and the weather is temperate except for the two humid summer months of March and April.

The sanctuary has been developed both as a wildlife sanctuary and as an academic and researchcentre. Initiated in 1972 the Sanctuary has five sections for carnivores, primates, ungulates, reptiles, and aviary.

THE BARAMURA ECO PARK

This park is located at about 37 km from Agartala in Baramura Hill Range, through which the 44 National Highway winds its way to Shillong and Guwahati. It is an area surrounded by sylvan green forest with a stream flowing through it. This park has a lot of other attractions in addition to the panoramic environment. This is an ideal destination for eco-lovers.
