The Eagles Nest

The Eagles Nest

In a quiet hamlet called Pangthang, about 8 kms away from Sikkim’s capital city of Gangtok is The Eagles Nest. Spread over three-acres of beautifully maintained land, this is Indian football legend, Baichung Bhutia’s home – a home that he has opened up for tourists to experience the all-encompassing hospitality of the Sikkimese people and the rich biodiversity of this beautiful north-eastern state. This is a cosy home that’s perfect for the nature lover, sports enthusiast, trekker or just someone who’s run away from the noise and pollution of a city and wants to enjoy the wonders of Mother Earth. Pangthang is the nesting ground for the steppe eagle and if you are lucky to be staying at The Eagles Nest between March and April or, September to November, you are likely to spot these majestic birds.  Set amid a forest and surrounded by the Himalayas, this picturesque homestay will allow you to have Bhutia himself take you biking, trekking or on nature hikes in and around the property, subject to his schedule, and with prior booking. The Eagles Nest is fitted with not just modern amenities but it oozes with lots of warmth for a memorable stay.

With ample open spaces, visitors can enjoy the view of the surrounding forests and mountains while sipping on a hot cup of home-grown Temi tea.
